Free fishing gear offered at Lower Mainland lakes

No gear?
No problem.
The Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC is loaning out fishing gear at its hatchery/visitor centre in Abbotsford, as well as at Alouette Lake near Maple Ridge, Rolley Lake northwest of Mission and Green Timbers Lake in Surrey.
The non-profit Society, with financial assistance from the Habitat Conservation Trust Foundation, is providing spinning rods, reels and tackle boxes on loan by the day or week at various locations around BC.
“So many people want to try their hand at fishing,” says program coordinator Tanya Laird, “but lack of equipment gets in the way. Our program makes fishing easy and affordable for everyone.”
In the Lower Mainland, Rod Loan Program staff will be at Alouette Lake from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Thursday through August 15.
At Rolley Lake the program is available July 17, 31 and August 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
