Competition will be tough for this year’s Miss Universe 2013, but one candidate is getting buzz because of her strong will to succeed at an early age, and that is Riza Santos, Miss Canada Universe 2013, reports jobsnhire.com.
Riza Santos, the stunning beauty representing Canada for this year’s Miss Universe pageant, is one of the 86 confirmed delegates to compete for the coveted and glorious crown. A lot of the contestants may have their unique x-factors that will help them shine brighter, but Miss Canada, Riza Santos, already has a future ahead of her whether she wins or not, and this makes her a truly inspiring and exceptional candidate. While a lot of women her age are busy “being young” and care free, the 27-year-old delegate from Canada wishes to be an entrepreneur for her own engineering company.
Aside from being headstrong into creating her own business, Miss Canada, Riza Santos was a former Canadian Forces Army Reserve. Spending time in the army might have taught Riza huge lessons on discipline, and she is surely “enforcing” those rules into her daily life. One more skill Riza has is her ability to shoot a target with a C7 service rifle. Another “dangerous” talent that Miss Canada, Riza Santos has is being skilled at knife throwing. Maybe this is why the Calgary beauty knows how to address her goals straight on and without miss.
Because she is of pure Filipino descent, Miss Canada, Riza Santos became quite the celebrity in the Philippines when she joined “Pinoy Big Brother,” the Philippine version of the famous reality show. Riza even appeared in several movies in the Philippines simply because her beauty and charisma couldn’t be denied.
Catch the coronation night on November 9 in Moscow’s Crocus City Hall, where Miss Canada, Riza, will have to outdo other contestants for the title of Miss Universe 2013.
Earlier last week, Santos took time off from her busy schedule to raise funds for a young girl’s operation.
15-year-old Maria Fe is suffering from a life-threatening scoliosis, causing her spine to curve so much, damaging her lungs and heart.
An expensive surgery is needed to cure her illness.
Santos learned about the girl’s plight thru Maria Fe’s aunt and uncle during a visit to Vancouver.
“Were so glad that Riza have a heart, a big heart, to do this for us and praise the lord for it,” said the girl’s aunt, Delia Tumak.
A dinner-dance and fashion show entitled “Believe: An Inspirational Evening” was organized by Santos’ mom and friends to support her bid for the Miss Universe 2013 crown.
But parts of the proceeds will go to Maria Fe’s medical expenses.
“Thank God that there is a God who answered Maria Fe’s prayers. To take away her life because nobody does anything is not acceptable as far as I’m concerned. So what’s happening tonight is terrific,” said the girl’s uncle, Ben Tumak.
The event was attended by beauty queens, local politicians, Philippine government officials and other high-profile guests.
“We are here to share the joy, to promote bayanihan among all Filipinos,” said Philippine Ambassador to Canada, Leslie Gatan.
The Fil-Canadian beauty was overwhelmed with the amazing support she got from the Filipino community.
“’Believe’ was the inspirational theme. Believe in yourself and to become the best that you can be. And once you do that, you really have the ability to become the best that you are and it gives you more opportunity, affords you more resources that you can help other people, people like Maria Fe who really does need our support,” Santos said.
Santos hopes that she continues to inspire others to help out people in need like.
