Argan Bistro: Moroccan cuisine in Vancouver

Argan Bistro, formerly known as Moroccan West, serves up delicious Moroccan food. Executive Chef Nourdine Majdoubi brings rich flavours of Moroccan cuisine to life from his hometown Agadir, a southern Morocco’s coastal tourist town.
They serve lunch, brunch and dinner. One of my favourite items was Merguez Sausage Samosa which was cross between a spring roll and a samosa. It was served with smoked tomato chutney. It was flavourful.
Award-winning Lamb Couscous has Ras-el-hanout, root vegetables, chickpeas, raisins, and Moroccan jus  placed on top of a bed of couscous. The lamb was a good portion size, delicious and tender.
For dessert, we had Cinnamon Churros. It was stacked like jenga and served with a chocolate orange blossom dip and berries on the side. The churros were thin, so it didn’t have that nice fluffy interior.
Overall, the food was pretty good and the traditional dishes on their menu are really delicious. Moroccan food has an interesting flavour profile as it is full of spices but never spicy.
Editor Side-note: A recent visit to Pizza Fabrika also revealed friendly and attentive staff, showing it be much more than the typical pizza take-out joint.
