Restaurant Review: Wild Sweets

Wild Sweets is one of the "24 best chocolatiers in the world" according to Chocolate - The Reference Standard.  Proprietors Dominique and Cindy Duby are also winners of the four consecutive 'Best Chocolatiers & Confectioners in America Awards from the International Chocolate Salon.

There were also desserts including Tartes with house-made cookie, cream and fruit.  The Lemon Custard Cream & white chocolate Chantilly was creamy and rich while the custard had tang and sweetness.  The Chantilly was light. The Raspberry Custard Cream with white chocolate Chantilly was not as tart, but the raspberry was refreshing.

We also had the Banana Custard Cream and Chocolate Cream. This was a bit too pungent for me. The chocolate was rich and silky while sweet with a mild bitter finish.

I loved the Milk Chocolate Mousse & Passion fruit Creme Brulee Cream. It had a nice balance with the initial hit of tartness ending off on an appealing bitter note. The Raspberry Fruit Crème was not as tart. The Dark Chocolate Mousse was silky, smooth with a smoky finish.

We had Ice Cream including the Pistachio Strawberry which was strawberry sorbet, vanilla ice cream & pistachio butter parfait. I found the pistachio to be aromatic. Of the two other flavours Hazelnut Passion fruit and Peanut , I was surprised I liked the peanut butter more.

Some of the highlights of the store were the Butter Toffee (think Almond Roca but better) and Dark Chocolate Bark. I really enjoyed the Fruit Macaron since it wasn't overly sweet while the texture was on point. Wild Sweets really surprised me.  Only wished it wasn't so far from me!
