Marketing, visual merchandising, manufacturing, buying and merchandising, retail management, publicity, and fashion publishing are just a few of the opportunities that may await graduates of the six-quarter program, which is scheduled to fall 2005.

Program instruction provides a comprehensive combination of design and business coursework, which is validated by both professional portfolio and internship experience.

Graduates will be prepared to enter a highly diverse field with a range of skills applicable to entry-level position ranging from Retail Store Managers, Department Retail Sales Professionals, Visual Merchandisers, Sales Supervisors, and Merchandising Managers.

“Graduates of the program will leave with a solid understanding of the elements of international business increasingly required by the global economy,“ explains Seng Sengsavanh, Academic Director for Fashion and Interior Design at The Art Institute of Vancouver.

“We aim to provide them not only with keen sales, marketing and visual merchandising skills, but also give them tools to express themselves creatively.”

Information from Trendsetters.com suggests that buyers in America spend as much as $176 billion per year on fashion. This represents one of the largest single industries in consumer retailing.

Emerging overseas markets and Globalization have created a demand for fashion marketers and merchandisers with sensitivity to other languages, cultures and tastes. The Fashion & Retail Management program was developed with these needs in mind.
