An extensive program of free workshops, demonstrations and displays will be offered with something to appeal to all ages. Door prizes will be offered in Ceramics and the Library, and a limited edition ECI 80th anniversary T-shirt will be for sale. The first 50 people each day to ask for one at the sales table will get a free T-shirt. A detailed schedule of events can be viewed at www.eciad.ca/80th

“We are celebrating the Institute‘s 80th anniversary this year, and are experiencing unprecedented growth and global recognition for the quality of our programs,“ Dr. Burnett continues. “For 80 years this school has been an integral part of Vancouver‘s culture, and will continue to be a hub for creativity for many years to come.”

About Emily Carr Institute:

ECI is one of the world's premier art institutes devoted to excellence and innovation in visual arts, media arts and design. ECI attracts students from over 32 countries, and fosters student exchanges with all major national and international art schools and universities.

In 2004/05, ECI served 1300 fulltime students and is one of the largest art and design institutions in North America.

ECI offers Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Media Arts and Bachelor of Design degrees, and will soon be offering a graduate degree program (pending government approval).

This is a unique partnership and will provide a focused program for Vancouver Island students wishing to pursue an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts.

ECI has received grants from the Canadian Foundation for Innovation, the BC Knowledge Development Fund and Western Economic Diversification Canada for expansion of the Granville Island campus to build its much anticipated, $4.5 million Intersections Digital Studio, a centre for research and experimentation in art, design, media and technology.
