For the first time, three anthologies of Korean literature have been published as a teaching tool for American universities, reports Korea.net. Source: Korea.net
The Columbia Anthology of Korean Literature is composed of three volumes: the Columbia Anthology of Traditional Poetry, which Professor Peter H. Lee at UCLA edited in 2003, the Columbia Anthology of Modern Poetry, which Professor McCann at Harvard University edited in 2004, and the Columbia Anthology of Modern Korean Fiction, which Professor Young-min Kwon at Seoul National University and Professor Bruce Fulton at University of British Columbia co-edited this year. This initiative to put out anthologies of Korean literature first began in 1995 when Professor Young min Kwon could not find a textbook to use for his Korean literature class offered at the UC Berkeley in 1993. Two years later, Professor Kwon led the effort to publish Korean literature anthologies with Professor David McCann, Professor Bruce Fulton of UBC, and Professor Peter Lee. |
