Surrey beauty off to compete in Mrs. World
Thu, February 10 2005

As a young girl, Surrey resident, Angie Dhillon-Rai knew first hand what it was like to be bullied in school. This month when she takes the podium at the Mrs. World pageant in India the diminutive newly-wed will likely touch on the subject especially given the countless hours she has spent raising awareness about youth violence and bullying.

Surrey's Angie Dhillon Rai

Dhillon-Rai will be among 50 contestants from around the world competing for the title on February 25th in Amby Valley, Lake City in India near Mumbai. During the pageant, Dhillon-Rai will showcase the perfect costume that represents Canada, take part in the sleek swim wear competition as well as walk the ramp in an evening gown.

Born in Richmond, Dhillon-Rai earned a diploma in Broadcast Communications at BCIT in 1997. "I am thrilled to be representing this nation and hope to make everybody just as proud as I am to be a Canadian. It's a huge privilege to not only live in the best place in the world but also to represent all that Canada stands for."
