Hotel and Restaurant
program graduate
Coquitlam resident Danny Lidder wanted a career with a booming future and he found it thanks to Douglas College. As a graduate of the two-year Hotel and Restaurant Management (HORM) diploma program, Lidder was able to launch himself into the hospitality industry and personal success.

"I wanted to be enrolled in a program where the sector is booming. Since graduating, I have received many promotions and different job offers. Each job is better than the last," says Lidder. Lidder discovered the Hotel and Restaurant Management program while enrolled in Business Administration at Douglas College. "I found that I what I really enjoyed was working with people and traveling. Hospitality management is a profession where you get an opportunity to do both."

Lidder, currently the Front Office Manager of the Hilton Vancouver at Metrotown, uses the many theories and principles he learned in the program in his day-to-day duties. "The HORM program has given me a strong foundation of knowledge which I have built on. Without my training and experience, I believe I would have never have had the opportunity to make the most of my education."

Lidder looks forward to more success and encourages other to follow his lead. "The hospitality industry is thriving. Students should anticipate being able to secure an entry-level position quickly. The HORM diploma translates into international job security, job flexibility and rapid career advancement," says Lidder.
