The Consulate General of Malaysia is currently updating its database of Malaysians residing under its area of coverage, i.e. British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan.
"The data is indeed necessary in the event of any emergency or consular assistance needed," Consul General Mohn Hassan Bal explains in a statement. "In this connection, all Malaysians in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan are advised to register or update their registration data by filling in the form which could be dowloaded from
http:///myperwakilan.mfa.gov.my/PendaftaranBI.doc and either mail it to the Consulate postal address or email it to:
mwvcouvr@axion.net.
From the Thai Consulate. . .
Fore! Well, five, actually. The Thai Consulate in Vancouver has just announced the 14th Annual ASEAN Golf Tournament, featuring Consulates General of Indonesia, Malaysia, The Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. Oh, to be a fly on the wall at the 19th hole at The University Golf Club on July 25th! The diplomats tee off — "shotgun starts with foursome team" — at 1:15 p.m. Power carts are not included with the $180 registration fee, nor are wireless devices.
From the Indian Consulate . . .
The Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs has launched its third Scholarship Program for Diaspora Children, with B.C.’s large India population being encouraged locally to register their best and brightest.
Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) may be able to pursue undergraduate courses in higher and technical fields in India. Designed for low-income families, the scholarships are worth up to $3,600 annually, with 100 being handed out this year.
Local candidates will be selected on the basis of a common entrance test to be conducted by Ed.CIL on 18th May, 2008 at the Consulate General of India, Vancouver. Exact timings would be intimated by Ed.CIL. For more information call the Consulate at 604.662.8811.
