The entire Gandhi family — all of which are political celebrities in India — will attend the final match of the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Cricket Tournament, organized by Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi.

Some 1,857 teams from as many villages took part in the tournament organized at 127 venues. Rahul, who is member of parliament from Amethi, provided the playing kits for the matches.

Players of the Amethi cricket team, which is a finalist in the tournament, said they had met Rahul during his visit on May 16, and he assured them that his entire family would be there to witness the match this week. "This would also include Priyanka Gandhi and her two children," said Sonu Singh, captain of the Amethi team. Amethi will play the team from Tiloi village in the finals.

"We had, in fact, requested Rahulji to invite the entire Indian cricket team and film star Shah Rukh Khan when he asked who all we would wish to come," said team manager Brijendra Shukla.
