Walk With the Dragon aims to raise $500,000
Wed, July 02 2008
"2008 marks S.U.C.C.E.S.S. serving the community for 35 years," said S.U.C.C.E.S.S. chairman Kenneth Tung. "S.U.C.C.E.S.S., which began in a humble makeshift office with a handful of young professional immigrants dedicated to helping new Canadians overcome cultural barriers in Canada, has evolved into one of the largest social service providers in B.C." "The fundraising target for Walk 2008 is $500,000 with proceeds going to maintain and enhance S.U.C.C.E.S.S. programs and services for those in need in the community, particularly seniors, women, youths, and families," said Ricky Wu and Sing LimYeo, co-chairs of the 2008 event. Pledge collectors will receive one entry to a draw for every $20 raised. The grand prize is a pair of hospitality class return tickets from Vancouver to any one of Air Canada’s Asian destinations. The S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Dragon Idol talent competition will return for a second year. The competition is divided into two categories, dance and vocals. The public is encouraged to sign up online at www.successfoundation.ca and begin collecting pledges. Pledge forms are available at all S.U.C.C.E.S.S. offices and selected branches of major financial institutions, including HSBC Bank Canada, RBC Financial Group, Scotiabank, TD Canada Trust, Vancity and CIBC.
