The most earth-friendly person on the planet lives in Malaysia

The highly anticipated announcement was revealed today at SFU’s sustainability festival in Burnaby. SFU business assistant professor Boyd Cohen created the online contest on the environmentally-friendly website, 3rdwhale.com and Matthias now proudly possesses the coveted green title.
Matthias Gelber is originally from Germany and currently lives in Malaysia. As winner, he receives a pod of beluga whales adopted on his behalf from the Defenders of Wildlife. Furthermore, the winner has the chance to choose which non-profit organization will receive five per cent of 3rdwhale’s 2009 profits.
Vancouver’s Emily Jubenvill, also known as the “guerrilla gardener,” is the second greenest person on Earth.
The competition was launched on April 22, Earth Day, with the intention of raising awareness of how people around the world are going green.
