It’s all system go for ballroom dance-off

You’ve seen celebrities learn and dance beautiful ballroom routines on the popular TV show Dancing with the Stars.



Now see the world’s best up close at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre Hotel in downtown Vancouver.


More than 300 dancers from Germany, Italy, England, Ukraine, Slovenia, Hungary, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Japan, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, Austria, the United States and Canada will compete at the SnowBall Classic, Feb 8-10, 2008.


On the first day, watch some of the world’s best ballroom dancers compete in the IDSF International Open Standard competition.


The audience will recognize the fiery tango, the lively quickstep, the elegant slow foxtrot, and the beautiful waltz and Viennese waltz.


The IDSF Open International Latin competition takes place Sat Feb 9, when couples try to outdo each other with a sensual rumba, a cheeky cha cha, an energetic jive, a sexy samba and an impressive paso doble.


On Sunday Feb 10,  the doors will open for the IDSF World Cup Ten-Dance Competition, where athletes from around the world compete in both Latin and Standard vie for the prestigious Cup.


Between rounds of the World Cup spectators will watch a unique event – an amazing demonstration of Wheelchair ballroom dancing.


Couples from Poland and Russia will show how dancing can be performed while sitting as well as standing.
