Filipinos laud a beautiful victory

Filipinos around the world lauded beauty queen Gwendoline Ruais for finishing first runner-up in this year’s Miss World pageant held at the Earls Court in London last weekend.
The Philippines waited for three decades before its candidate again placed first runner-up at the Miss World pageant.
Miss Venezuela Ivian Sarcos was crowned Miss World 2011 winner. Miss Puerto Rico Amanda Victoria Vilanova Perez came third.
The top seven finalists were from Korea, Venezuela, England, Philippines, Puerto Rico, South Africa, and Scotland.
The coronation was broadcast to one billion viewers in 150 countries.
Gwendolyn is a French-Filipino model, who earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management last year and she said that she joined the pageant for her country.This event market for the first time in history, three beauties with Filipino lineage competed against each other in the 2011 Miss World pageant.
They were Filipino-Canadian Riza Santos who represented  Canada’s, Filipino-Danish Maya Celeste Padillo Olesen who represented Denmark and the Philippines’ very own Gwendoline Ruais.
Ordos in Inner Mongolia, China, will host the 2012 Miss World.
